Sara Orphanides
is an early childhood educator who holds a strong vision of all children as competent and capable, with endless potential for building peace. Sara’s belief that the transformation of our world to a place of freedom begins with children has led her to a career in teaching and learning with three-to-six-year-olds at Carolina Friends Durham Early School. Sara holds an MS in Education from Bank Street College of Education where she discovered the power of supporting children in constructing their own learning about the world. Sara serves on the leadership team of the North Carolina Reggio Emilia Collaborative, which connects and trains early educators who wish to deepen their practice through shared learning, reflective discussion, and hands-on explorations.
