Edel Còrdova

is a teacher, artist, and mindfulness practitioner who grew up on the island of Puerto Rico. Her lived experiences off the mainland, in New York City and now in North Carolina influence her appreciation of the rich intersection of culture, race, and identity. In recent years, Edel has participated in Racial Equity Institute trainings and completed the Teaching for Equity micro credential offered by Embracing Equity. She serves as the ABAR (anti-bias anti-racism) coordinator for Montessori Farm School of Durham and believes children are best served by being encouraged to make choices for themselves in supportive environments. Edel is committed to finding gratitude and joy from simple pleasures and daily spiritual practices. She received the Five Mindfulness Trainings from the Plum Village Buddhist tradition and is a yoga practitioner and life long swimmer. As someone who fully believes in the power of restorative practices, Edel is an enthusiastic contributor to Peaceful Schools NC.
