Summer Institute For Educators
Welcome to our first Summer Institute for Educators!
As we look back on where we’ve been and forward to what we can create in schools, we wonder… How might we begin?
These last two years have stretched us all beyond measure. Can ‘22-’23 be a year we begin with stability, strength, and space for students to grow? Can we give our students the gift of feeling safe, seen, and valued from day one, and every day through the 22-23 school year? Our first Summer Institute offers three opportunities to support our newest teachers, teachers of our youngest students, and all educators in between.
For our newest teachers (or those joining a new school), two of the most powerful, veteran teacher-leaders in Peaceful Schools NC history have created the New Teacher Launchpad, Creating a Thriving Classroom Culture, an experience with the sole purpose of equipping new educators to begin with intention, resilience, and care. A day of programming with Dr. Renée Prillaman and Ida Trisolini will leave you feeling nurtured, connected, prepared, and eager to get started! (July 26)
Our youngest students’ experiences in their early childhood classroom deeply affects how they view themselves and how they interact with others. When children can experience and practice simple conflict resolution skills in preschool and kindergarten, they carry those skills with them for the rest of their lives! Olynda Smith, Susanna Lambert, and Sara Orphanides are eager to support you in Cultivating Peaceful Early Childhood Classrooms. (Aug 1)
All educators benefit from Restorative Practices as a way of being that is rooted in building healthy connections and repairing harm within a community. This summer, by popular demand, we will be sharing our foundational Restorative Practices for Educators and School Leaders, equipping you with the essential frameworks to begin the school year intentionally creating community and confidently having practices for repairing harm and solving conflicts. (July 27-28)
